Dr Agathoklis Giaralis is Associate Professor (Reader) in Structural Dynamics in the Department of Civil Engineering at City, University of London, where he is spearheading research on Smart Structures and Structural Health Monitoring. He holds a Diploma in Structural Engineering and an MSc in Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures from the Department of Civil Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and received his PhD from Rice University, Houston, TX, USA partly funded by a Fulbright Exchange Scholarship.
Having co-authored more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings in the areas of nonlinear stochastic dynamics, optimal structural vibrations control, vibrations-based structural health monitoring, and structural wind & earthquake engineering, he is contributing expertise in optimisation-driven sustainable structural design and monitoring of modular structures for resilience to adverse dynamic loads.
