George Psyrras

George Psyrras is a PhD candidate in the Department of Engineering at City, University of London under the supervision of Professor KD Tsavdaridis. He holds a Diploma (M.Eng.) in Civil Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), Greece. His research interests lie in the fields of seismic design of steel and composite structures, design automation and model optimization of structural finite element models, software development, and artificial intelligence applications on structural engineering towards developing more sophisticated and robust solutions.

After obtaining his Master’s Degree, he joined the Laboratory of Experimental Strength of Materials and Structures at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as Research Associate, where he led the parametric analysis of a range of non-linear dynamic structural models in Abaqus and SAP2000 with the aid of Python scripting.

He actively contributed to two EU-funded research projects focusing on the development of novel wall system concepts, as well as to the numerical investigation of the structural behaviour of masonry arch bridges located in Greece.
